Frogs
- Open a Biological Field Between Genetics and Embryology -
Year April, 1980
Time 35 min.

Summary What is genetic embryology ?
One of the most convenient ways to understand this scientific field is to know the history of the development of genetically altered frogs. This film introduces a rather difficult task, extending over 30 years, of establishing a suitable frog ancestry that was carried out by Dr. Toshijiro Kawamura and Dr. Midori Nishioka at Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan.

The researchers made a lot of effort to continue their investigation for a long period in spite of interruptions due to World War II and the aftermath of the atomic bomb. Despite these difficulties, the scientists' desire for the mystery of life was unabated. Their study with frogs has expanded and evolved into new research fields such as in the cases of mutation caused by radiation and cell biology using chimera animals.

This film aids us to understand the ideal way of existence of human beings with passion and the meaning of science and nature through the scientists in Hiroshima.
